特定の鳥の羽根ではなく、少し長めの羽根と、ふわふわの羽毛を描いた作品です。器の内側の曲面に長い細い線を描いたり、羽毛のふわふわ感を出すために、極限まで細い線を描いたりするのは、息もできないくらい集中力を要する作業だそうです。描いたところに細かな金粉を撒き、その見えるか見えないかという金粉を繊細に研ぎ出すという研出（とぎだし）蒔絵。器も蒔絵の繊細さにふさわしい、木地を薄く、塗りも薄く仕上げたつくりです。側面にも蒔絵で花弁の文様を施していて、少しキラキラする縁は、金の梨地に錫粉を蒔いたものです。
